If you haven’t noticed, I usually post on Sunday,  so I’m late this week but I blame the time change, which meant I fell asleep at 8:30 last night. I’m an old woman in this young(ish) body. Anyway, here’s what I’ve been up to:
  • Jewelry making. Necklaces, specifically, and these  don’t involve paracord.
  • Turning my plain black desk into pretty with contact paper.
  • Repurposing “trash” (as always)
  • Trying out the soap we made in August. Spoiler: it didn't burn the bits πŸ˜‰
Let’s start with the soap.

This was our turnout, minus one. It cured completely so no zapping on any of the parts (yay!), BUT the smell is faint, almost nonexistent, it gets smooshy toward the end of the bar, and the square ones have hard edges at first that make shaving slightly unpleasant. To fix these issues I have ordered some different essential oils, we plan to change the coconut oil/olive oil ratio, and I bought some round, rubber molds on the Wish app that should be here soon. Have you guys used the Wish app? I have found the coolest stuff on there, like these socks:

Who doesn’t want a pair of Wonder Woman socks with capes on the back? No one, that’s who. That’s just one thing I’ve purchased but they have lots of cool stuff and it’s super cheap. It’s coming directly from China, so, ya know, use PayPal when you buy, just to be safe. I haven’t had any trouble at all though and it usually comes faster than they say it will.

We’ll just move up that list because backwards is my style. I have been saving medicine bottles for a while now. Why? Because I believe that almost everything can be repurposed and I was right..as usual, just ask my husbandπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. I found a non-profit organization, Matthew 25 Ministries, that takes them and redistributes them to people in need, nationally and internationally. They provide other services as well and have even recently organized a mission trip to southern WV to help rebuild 2 schools. The Founder of the Ministry says, “We can care for a needy world with the things we throw away.” He and I could totally be friends! So anyway, it’s a really great organization so spending a little bit of money on postage is worth it to play a small part in their efforts.

I use a couple pill bottles for different purposes and one is for quarters I keep in my car. The (not) lovely weather change last week came with a low tire light. I fight with them all winter so I like to have quarters on hand for air machines.

And yes, I decorated it with duck tape. Just because you’re repurposing doesn’t mean it has to be ugly πŸ˜‹.

Onward and upward: so I have a desk that I bought at IKEA like 6 years ago that I used in my craft room for a while. Recently it has had the prestigious job of providing a shelf in between my totes on the floor and atop, which hold my things for sale on EBay. I’ve been debating for a while about buying a new laptop because mine is old and anger inducing every time it freezes, but Philip recently did some electronic rearrangements involving a server (don’t ask me, I have no idea. I just helped run some wires) which freed up the mini Mac that he was using (it’s actually called a Mac Mini but mini Mac is easier to remember...it’s like Big Mac, only not). Soooooo, anyway (this is related, I swear), I decided to not buy a new laptop and try using the mini Mac for a while, which meant I needed a desk for it to live on. Enter ikea desk (See? I told ya). I got the idea to cover the top with contact paper on Pinterest, from someone who covered their end tables. I could tell you how much fun it is to do but I want you to experience it for yourself πŸ˜‰. It was worth it though. The top turned out great as long as you’re not a perfectionist (totally not me πŸ™„). If you are, plan to devote about 3 hours to a project like this to smooth out all the bumps. I forgot to take a “before” pic so I had to snag the one on IKEA’s website.

I really like how it turned out and I didn’t have to buy a new desk...saweeet! Im just gonna cover everything I don’t like now...kitchen cabinets, front door...Bahahaha. Okay, probably not.

Last on my list is necklace making. I have a new hobby every time I write a post. Maybe something will stick some day. In the meantime, clay necklaces are the newest rage. These are the three I made last week. I have so many ideas swirling in my head for my next batch but stupid Amazon lied to me about my charms being here today so I couldn’t work on them. (I’m just kidding Amazon, you’re not stupid and I love you. Just do better, kiddo).

I used a leaf charm from a necklace, a button, and an earring to make my impressions. I got more beads in the mail today (that I ordered from the Wish app. Just sayin’) so whenever my charms get here I’ll be a necklace making fool. I went to Walmart last week to get these beads and while I was there I got some cinnamon rolls to bake. Not something I usually eat, and I actually didn’t even eat those ones because I burned them πŸ˜’, but I did get a cool container for storing my beads in from the icing cup in the roll. I just glued a handle on the lid to make it a little easier to open.

At least something good came out of my impulse buy! 😝

I’m at the end of my list but obviously I can’t finish without a pic of Sansa so here’s a gem I took over the weekend when she road in the Jeep to Ace Hardware with us:

And here’s the slobber she dripped on the dashboard when she came to the front seat, where she knows she isn’t allowed to be:

It was even on the windshield, which means she touched her mouth to the glass. As soon as she saw us coming out she immediately went to the back πŸ™„. She’s a brat but I love her, slobber and all...πŸ˜›.
