These past two weeks have brought many new milestones. Quinn celebrated his first Thanksgiving(s), first with Philip’s brother’s family and then with mine. He got his first taste of solid food and I got some great reaction pictures from that π. He also graduated from his bath sling to his seat. At his four month well check Dr. Gary talked to us about starting solids but I wasn’t thrilled with the idea. I want him to do whatever he is ready for though and he can sit up well and seems interested when we eat so I caved and let Philip buy some oatmeal baby cereal. His first try was not successful, as expected. Experts say it can take trying a food 15-20 times before you like it. That’s why you should keep offering foods that kids claim to not like and encouraging them to try it because they may just change their mind. He’s getting oatmeal cereal most nights, on a spoon and mixed with breast milk. He still doesn’t make good faces but he continues to open his mouth to take a bite so I guess that counts for something π€·π»♀️. We also introduced peas after the three day waiting period (to make sure he didn’t have a reaction to the cereal) and he made even better facesπ€ͺ. This will take some getting used to. I thought he was going to get some teeth last week because he had a low grade fever, drooled like a Saint Bernard, and was super irritable for a couple of days but so far we’ve got nothin’ π€·π»♀️.
The pumpkin cheesecake truffles I made. They were delicious!

Trying cereal for the first time.
Trying peas for the first time.
Spitting them out π€£.
He was still a good sport though π.
Gnawing on Dad’s thumb.
Soph likes to do that too π€£.
His graduation to the bath seat knocked our whole bath routine out of whack because bath time now has to be done in the bathroom. We used to put his tub on the kitchen table (where we spend the majority of our time) but now that he sits up, rinsing his hair is very messy on the table. Yes, I know that from experience π€¦π»♀️. He seems to like sitting up for his bath though so that makes it easier. He probably could’ve started using his seat before now because his feet hung off the end of the sling and he would often kick and knock the cup I use to rinse him out of my hand. Good times π.
Quinn made another transition recently to using medium flow nipples on his bottles, something he probably should’ve started doing before but just honestly wasn’t on my radar of things to do. I had bought some faster flowing ones on accident when he was about a month old and he got choked when we used them so I put them away, out of sight, out of mind. He’s getting the hang of them now though so it’s all good. It’s funny how something like that can bring on the Mom Guilt, Capital M, Capital G. Like, am I hampering his development by not thinking of these things on time? I’ve worked as a Parent Educator for 7 years, shouldn’t I know about these things?! And what about tummy time? Is he spending enough time on the floor? Is he sitting up enough? I swear there aren’t enough hours in the day. Also, this is going to be his first Christmas and don’t we need all the Pinterest-worthy traditions that have to start now and keep going for the rest of his childhood?! I just got the tree put up today and I used to always put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving π©.
Ignore how unflattering these pants are π€£. I almost wanna post a pic in yoga pants to prove that my butt does not indeed look like that π.
He loved the lights π.
Today was nice because I got to focus on him most of the day. Typically on weekends Philip kind of takes him on and I focus on doing all the things around the house that don’t get done during the week, that way he gets to spend time with Quinn and gives me some time to feel productive. However, this weekend was a little different than normal because I had to work on Saturday so I didn’t get much done around here aside from putting up the tree (which still has no ornaments on it π). Philip had schoolwork to do so I got to spend extra time one on one with Quinn. We played with his activity mat and practiced rolling over, something he’s still not doing without prompting. I roll him on his belly and he rolls to his back by himself. He reached out in two different directions to grab toys and used his feet to kick a hanging toy. I was proud of his progress today. He’s a smart boy. π
Quite the multitasker π.
My post natal hair loss has started and oh boy, you can’t imagine my excitement for that π. Quinn constantly has my hair in his hands (because he pulls it, another fun development) and I just feel so annoyed that there is hair EVERYWHERE. Ugh. Not to mention, I was enjoying the fullness pregnancy brought on, I would rather not give that up ππ»♀️lol.
Both girls had birthdays in the past two weeks. Soph turned 2 on Nov. 29 and Sansa turned 4 on Dec. 3. Sophie has really been testing my patience lately. When Sansa turned 2 it was an almost immediate change in her demeanor. She calmed down significantly and gave up many of her puppy behaviors. I’m holding out hope that the same will happen with Soph. I keep reminding myself that everything is temporary and to just try to enjoy each phase as much as possible. This applies to the girls and Quinn.
She was pouting because I told her not to lay on him π.
He was in awe of her when he woke up.
Happy birthday, Soph!
Happy birthday, Sansa!
I don’t think her tongue fits in her mouth. It’s never in it π€·π»♀️
Pestering me to pet her while I’m pumping π.
Her Tinder pic π.
Sitting pretty.
I can’t wait to share our Christmas cards with you all. Just know that getting the pic of Quinn was easy. These two, not so much π€ͺ.
She is 100% asleep right now π€¦π»♀️π€£.
